William P. Van Horn, Jr.

August 30, 1921 — February 14, 2019

William P. Van Horn, Jr. was called home by his heavenly father on the morning of February, 14, 2019 in The Woodlands, TX. He was born in Bethlehem, PA on August 30, 1921 to Marguerite and William Van Horn. He graduated from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA.

Bill proudly served in the US Army during World War II as a radio repair technician and loved to regale us with tales of his adventures in the Galapagos Islands. After his honorable discharge, he went to work for Western Electric for over 35 years. He worked at the Western Electric facility in Allentown and it was known worldwide as the plant that manufactured the first transistor. Bill was quite proud of the fact that he built the house on Kelchner Road that he and Millie would live in for over 60 years.

Bill was an amateur ham radio operator, avid fisherman, golfer, and Yankees fan. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Van Horn; sister Elaine Csrenko; and son-in-law John Wright.

He is survived by his daughter Andrea Wright; son Christopher (Patti) Van Horn; granddaughter Katie (Austin) Musselman; grandsons, Andrew and Tyler Van Horn.

A private family ceremony will be held to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to organizations that benefit our men and women serving in the US Armed Forces.
