Wanda Faye Leggett, 67, passed away on August 18, 2023. She was born in Texas City, Texas on July 15, 1956, to parents Calvin and Joy Evans.
Wanda grew up in Texas City and was the baby of 3 children. As an infant, all the older girls would always want to hold her whenever her mother had her outside because she was such a beautiful baby. She made friends easily, and those relationships would usually turn into life-long friendships. Before losing her father at the age of 13, he had built her some steps over the fence in the backyard so that she could go see her best friend, Kathy.
She was loyal, determined, hard-working, witty, and smart, and could express herself very well. She was truly the life of the party, who never met a stranger. She obtained her high school diploma and moved on to travel school in the mid-80s. Wanda had a blast doing that and it was one of her most talked about favorite memories.
She absolutely adored her family and loved them hard. When she met and married Joe, she took on 3 step-sons and always treated them like her very own. On top of being a multi-tasking Mom, she was a business manager who would run a business for 30 years.
Wanda leaves behind her husband Joe Leggett; children, Miranda Smrekar (Jeff), Marion Marasciullo (Michelle), Daniel Leggett, and William Leggett; grandchildren, Lanie, Jerromy, Andrew, Mariah, Anaiah, Emari, Marowynn, Eowyn, Avenlea, Ivory, and Cypress; sister, Linda Callaway (Michael); along with her mother, Joy Warren, who she has been taking care of for the past 3 years.
She is preceded in death by her father, Calvin Evans; step-father, Darrell Warren; brother, Michael Evans; nephew, Sam Johnston; niece, Christina Evans Disler; mother-in-law, Wenona Leggett; father-in-law, Ray Leggett; and numerous aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends.
