Wallace Compton

Wallace Minter Compton, age 77, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away at his home on March 5, 2026.

Wallace, “Wally,” was born in Wichita, Kansas and was the son of Mary Miles Gordon and Homer Clyde Compton, Jr. Some of Wally’s fondest childhood memories included staying on his grandparent’s (Miles Wallace Gordon, Temperence Emily Gordon). Wally graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington, Texas and obtained his bachelor’s in business administration from The University of Missouri-Kansas in Kansas City, Missouri.

A proud veteran, Wally served in the United States Navy. Wally entered active duty on March 20, 1970. Wally completed a U.S. Navy training program for photography, The Photographer's Mate (PH) "A" School in Pensacola, Florida, on October 21, 1970. Historically, this training included teaching photography, videography, and imaging techniques to sailors to document Navy operations, aviation, and combat activities for intelligence, public affairs, and historical purposes. Wally fulfilled his service obligations on March 19, 1974, and was transferred to the Naval Reserves. Wally received the First Good Conduct Award for Services, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

After his service completion, Wally relocated from Washington D.C. to Arlington, Texas. Wally married the love of his life, Margaret "Cathy" Compton on May 12, 1973, in Arlington. Wally and Cathy moved to Overland Park, Kansas and lived there from January 1978, to August 1997. Wally and his family relocated to Austin, Texas, and eventually Montgomery, Texas in October 2023.

Wally began his medical sales journey in Overland Park, Kansas with Ohio Medical and Ohmeda Medical. In 1992, Wally began working for Dräger Inc. Medical. Wally began in their sales division which included additional support as a training specialist. Wally’s career with Draeger within their sales division for anesthesia machines and patient monitoring solutions spanned for over 30 years. Within that time, Wally worked with numerous hospitals and doctors in the Kansas City Metroplex, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston Metroplex, including the Texas Medical Center. Wally completed his career with Draeger as an account executive in perioperative solutions. In total, Wally accumulated over 50 years within the medical and anesthesia sales sectors. Wally retired from Draeger to pursue a new chapter of adventure, including enjoying his family time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and grand-dogs.

He was the beloved husband of Margaret Catherine Compton for 52 years; the devoted father of Vania Compton (Vlad Turov), Rachel (Ryan) Jacobs, Jacob Compton, and Daniel Compton; and the cherished grandfather of Isabella Jacobs, Mila Turov, Delilah Jacobs, Charlette Jacobs, and Cannan Jacobs. He is also survived by his siblings William Miles (Diane) Persky and Catherine Elizabeth (Steve) McClain, and preceded in death by his brother Gordon Anthony Persky (Pete).

A celebration of Wallace Minter Compton’s life with Military Honors will include

- Visitation: March 19, 2026, 5:00-7:00 p.m., Eickenhorst Funeral Services, located at 12412 FM 2854 Rd., Conroe, Texas, 77304.

- Service: March 20, 2026, 9:30 a.m., Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston, TX 77038. The "Folding of the Flag" or "Taps" will be performed at the service.

Wally, Dad, and Beloved Grandpa: Your mission is complete. Rest in peace, we all love you so much.
