Victor Leonard Cheney was born in Wilkes Barre, PA on October the 2nd, 1953 to Myron Leonard Cheney & Stella Cheney. Vic passed away on March 31st, 2021 in The Woodlands, TX at the age of 67.
Vic is survived by his four children, Katie Bowen, Ben Cheney, Sam Cheney, and Rachel Rucker; eight grandchildren, Kaylee, Jessica, Tate, Julianna, Coltin, Olivia, John, & Sarah Jo, who all lovingly referred to him as PeePaw. Vic is also survived by his sister, Jeanette Wieland; brothers, Myron Cheney, & Peter Cheney, who live in Australia.
Vic’s favorite past time was skiing. He often shared his childhood memory of saving up for his first set of skis and impatiently waiting for school to end so he could go hit the slopes. On any given day, you would find Vic in his vegetable garden, playing with his grandchildren, telling a joke, playing his guitar, or reading his bible. He excelled at gardening and expertly tended his garden providing friends and family with lemons, oranges, butternut squash, and tomatoes. Vic’s most cherished possessions were his parents’ bibles and his beloved Chevy S10, more commonly referred to by family as “The Little Red Truck”.
Vic was an accountant in his professional life and a guitar player in his personal life. In his youth, Vic played in several bands. His love of music stayed with him throughout his entire life.
Vic loved the Lord, seeking strength and guidance in scripture. He never met a stranger, was never afraid to speak of God’s love, and never passed up an opportunity for a great conversation.
Vic will fondly be remembered for his unapologetic timing of a well-placed joke and for his famously spot-on impersonation of Donald Duck.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at North Central Church, 25130 Aldine Westfield Rd, Spring, TX 77373. The funeral service will follow at noon. Graveside and burial will then follow at 2 PM in Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe.
