Valrea Bolt Thomas

January 26, 1921 — September 6, 2012

Valrea, age 91, was born on June 26, 1921 in Austin, TX to Carl and Lily Bolt. She slipped quietly into the waiting arms of her Savior Jesus on Thursday evening, September 6 with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. She was the second of 11 children and was married to her sweetheart, Everett (Tommy) Thomas for 68 years. During his career in the Air Force they lived in England and Japan but were blessed to spend most of their years in Texas. She had a beautiful voice and she and Tommy often sang special music at their local church. Valrea is survived by her husband Everett (Tommy), one daughter, Sandi Preddy and her husband Henry, granddaughter Tami Risher and her husband Wayne, grandson Marshall Preddy and his wife Jordan, and grandson Scott Preddy and his wife Julianne. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Ashleigh, Hanna, Zack and Lindsey Risher, and Patrick Henry Preddy and James Wilson Preddy. She is also survived by sisters Annabelle Lee, Jean Higgenbottom and Faye Pope as well as brothers Carl Bolt Jr. and Judith Bolt, and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins. Valrea's career was being a homemaker and mother. She was famous for her lemon pies and her buttermilk biscuits. Her grandchildren especially loved her brown sugar oatmeal as well. She always grew a bountiful garden and loved to share the produce with friends and family. Mother had suffered from Alzheimer's for the last years of her life. She was a resident of Heritage Oaks Memory Care Center in Conroe. There are angels who walk among us, and some of those angels were the ladies who lovingly cared for her at Heritage Oaks. There were other special angels from Lighthouse Hospice who provided so much relief to mother and support for the family. The family sends a special thank you to Christy Baker, mother's hospice nurse, and her physician, Dr. James A. Baker. These loving people helped our burdens be a little lighter. We know mother is rejoicing in being free from the body that held her bound here on earth and she is laughing and singing and harmonizing with her family and friends at Heaven's gate. We are thankful for the special memories she has left us with. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lighthouse Hospice or to the American Alzheimer's Society.
