Timothy "Rusty" Scott Gram

Timothy “Rusty” Gram, 48, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep at his home in Conroe, Texas, on August 5, 2026.

Rusty was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. His sudden passing leaves an emptiness that words cannot adequately describe, but the life he lived, the obstacles he overcame, the faith he found, and the love he shared will continue to live on through the many people who loved him.

Rusty shared his life with his wife, Kirsti Gram, and loved Kirsti’s children, Mackenzie, Kolton, and Logan, as part of his family. He was also a loving father to his daughters Ashley, Kayla, Ava, and Tatum, and his son Ryder. His children and family were an important part of his life, and each held their own special place in his heart.

It was Logan who lovingly gave Rusty the name “Big Guy,” a name that quickly became so much more than a nickname. To Mackenzie, Kolton, and Logan, that was simply who he was—their Big Guy. It was a name filled with love, familiarity, and the special place Rusty held in their lives. They will forever carry their Big Guy with them in their hearts, in their memories, and in all the little moments that will continue to remind them of him.

Anyone who knew Rusty knew that he loved to laugh—and, according to Rusty, he was quite possibly “the funniest person in the world.” He had a personality that could fill a room and a sense of humor that his family and friends will never forget.

Rusty had many passions. He loved motorcycles, bowling, UFC, going to the gym, and, most importantly, his beloved Los Angeles Rams. If the Rams were playing, there was little question about who Rusty was rooting for.

One of the most meaningful chapters of Rusty’s life, however, was the one he fought incredibly hard to write.

Rusty struggled with addiction for several years. Four years ago, he attended The Wheelhouse, a sober-living and recovery program in Deer Park, Texas. It was there that a conversation took place that would help change the course of Rusty’s life forever.

Jason, who would become Rusty’s sponsor and best friend, sat down with him at The Wheelhouse and told him that if he would stay, commit himself to the program, and truly give it a chance, his life would change forever. Rusty made the choice to stay. He made the choice to commit. And Jason was right—Rusty’s life did change forever.

Rusty went on to maintain his sobriety and build a life that reflected just how far he had come. His sobriety was not simply an accomplishment or a chapter of his past; it was a testament to his strength, perseverance, determination, and willingness to fight for a different life.

Jason continued walking beside Rusty throughout that journey, becoming much more than his sponsor. He became Rusty’s best friend. Jason and his wife, April, became family to Rusty, sharing in the life he had worked so hard to build. Their friendship, love, encouragement, and support held a special place in Rusty’s heart and in the hearts of those who loved him.

During those same years, Rusty’s relationship with the Lord became an increasingly important part of his life. Rusty and Kirsti became part of The Ark Church family four years ago. He loved attending church and listening to worship music, and for two years he served his church as an usher.

One year before his passing, Rusty was baptized, publicly declaring his faith in Jesus Christ. His baptism was a beautiful milestone in the life and faith he had worked so hard to build. His family now holds tightly to that faith and knows that although Rusty is no longer here with them, he is home with the Lord.

Professionally, Rusty was a proud member of IBEW Local 716, where he had worked since 2015. His years in the brotherhood brought friendships and connections that became another important part of his life.

Rusty leaves behind his wife, Kirsti Gram; Kirsti’s children, Mackenzie, Kolton, and Logan; his children, Ashley, Kayla, Ava, Ryder, and Tatum; and their mothers, Robin, Elizabeth, and Laurie.

He is also survived by his sister, Andria; his nieces, Savana and Alyssa; his aunt and uncle, Cindy and Mike; their son, Matthew; Grandmother Glover; his sponsor and best friend, Jason, and Jason’s wife, April; and many additional family members and friends who loved him dearly.

Rusty was preceded in death by his mother, Mitzy Kay Piwarski; his father, William “Bob” Piwarski; his maternal grandparents, Onetea White and Howard “Bob” White; Grandfather Glover; and several other beloved family members who went before him.

Rusty’s story was not one of perfection. It was a story of struggle, perseverance, redemption, faith, laughter, family, and love. He fought battles that many people never saw, overcame things that once seemed impossible, and found his way into a life centered more deeply around faith and family.

At only 48 years old, there should have been more time—more Rams games, more motorcycle rides, more worship songs, more jokes that Rusty thought were funnier than everyone else did, more Sundays at church, and more ordinary days with the people who loved him.

Those who knew and loved Rusty will miss his laughter, his humor, his presence, and all the little things that made him uniquely Rusty.

His family knows that when Rusty left this world, he left peacefully in his sleep, sober, deeply loved, and secure in his faith. And because he placed his faith in Jesus Christ, they know this goodbye is not forever. Rusty is with the Lord, and one day they will see him again.

His life was bigger than his struggles. His story was bigger than his mistakes. His faith was bigger than his battles. And the love he leaves behind is bigger than death.

Rest peacefully, Rusty. You fought your battles, you found your faith, and you were deeply loved. Until we meet again.
