Suzanne Laws Stuchbery, age 84, beloved wife, mother and grandmother went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 11. 2022. Suzanne was born in 1937 to Ben and Florene (Baird) Laws in Corpus Christi, Texas. Her mother died when she was very young, and she was adopted later by Helen Laws, second wife of Ben. She grew up in Pasadena, Texas, graduated from Pasadena High School in 1955, and attended North Texas State University before marrying her childhood friend, Tom Stuchbery. She played clarinet and was a twirler in the high school band, and loved to sing, leading the children’s choir at her church. A woman of her era, Suzanne stayed home to focus on her family. After the kids grew older, she worked various jobs: notably as a registrar at the middle school, a crossing guard for HPD, and a delivery driver for her son’s business. She was crafty and had an entrepreneurial spirit, sewing clothes and doing needlepoint, and selling hand painted family trees and decoupage art in her younger years. She loved her Blue Bell ice cream and lived for the traditional Thanksgiving holiday gathering and meal.
Suzanne was very social, had many friends, and was loved by all. She was kind to everyone, and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Through the years, she became a very devout and faithful Christian, dedicated to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and was a great example of what a Christian lady should be. One of her nieces referred to Suzanne as a “virtuous Proverbs 31 woman”--charitable and helpful to all. Gardening was her passion and she loved animals, especially all the wildlife that lived around her home in Cleveland, Texas. She would set food out for the birds, squirrels and even the possums. She will be sorely missed.
Suzanne is survived by Tom, her husband of 65 years; children Mark, Lisa and Gena Stuchbery; grandchildren Taylor (wife Anne) and Autumn Stuchbery; and nieces, nephew and cousins from the Laws family. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ab Baird and Myrtle Wing; parents Ben and Helen Laws; and brothers Ben Laws III and Douglas Laws.
The family will conduct a graveside service 10 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2022 at Klein Memorial Park, 9714 FM 2920, Tomball, TX 77375. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Stroke Association or your favorite animal charity.
