Steven Britt Collins, age 53, passed away in Leander, TX on May 25, 2015. He was born on June 6, 1961 in Waycross, GA. He spent his early childhood in Waycross and moved to Conroe, TX, Brighton, CO, and Perry, OK where he graduated from Perry High School. While a student, Steven was a wrestler, showed pigs as a member of the FFA, and was a member of Homemakers of America (so he could meet girls). He went into basic training in MO for National Guards and served in 1978-1982 and 1983-1987. He attended school in GA for the Armed Airborne.
Steven began working at Frailey’s shortly after graduating from high school and started a career in welding. His mentor and the one who taught him how to weld was Jake St. Clair. His career took him all over the country and even beyond to places as far as Africa. He loved his job and was very proud of his accomplishments.
Steven was very creative and loved to share his skill with family and friends, making everything from brass bracelets to BBQ pits. He also made his daughter, Samantha, some earrings. He was a great comedian and loved to make people laugh. He was a talented man who loved to share his gifts with others. He knew how to enjoy life: playing pool, riding in his boat, fishing, beer and BBQ, hanging with family and friends, and watching Nascar and the Cowboys. He especially cherished time with Samantha, the center of his world.
Steven is survived by his daughter, Samantha Lynn Collins; mother, June Collins; siblings Scott Collins, Vernon Collins, and Karen Schlanger; uncle, Bill Brantley; aunt, Jean Brantley; and numerous relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Vernon Lamont Collins, Sr.; Harrison Wells, Ruby Wells, and William Brantley, Jr.
