Stephanie was born on February 19, 1984, in Huntsville, Alabama. She was the loving mother of three beautiful children and a devoted and supportive wife. She loved life with her family and was a true “momma bear.”
Stephanie was both a teacher at home and at Blaze Christian Academy. She was an avid reader and a space base enthusiast. She loved leading junior high girls in Sunday morning Bible study. A devout Christian, she professed Jesus as her Savior.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Education from Sam Houston State University and also earned an Associate of Arts degree from Trinity Valley Community College, where she met her loving husband. She enjoyed playing the flute and loved to sing.
Stephanie is preceded in death by her “Pa” Ben Cooksey and her grandmother Jayne Lantrip. She is survived by her husband, John Douglas of Willis; her son, Zachary, 8; and her daughters, Julia, 13, and Madeline, 15, all of Willis. She is also survived by her mother, Pamela Kerby of Montgomery; her father, Richard Cooksey of Elkhart; her brother, Alex Kerby of Shamrock; and her brother, Richard “Huck” Cooksey of Austin. She is further survived by her grandmother, Rosa “Mammie” Cooksey of Elkhart; her mother-in-law, Kathy Douglas of Eustace; and her father-in-law, John Lee Douglas of Russellville, Alabama, as well as many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
