Sherry Crane Cook was born August 8, 1943, in Griffin, GA to James William “JW” and Ollie Elizabeth Crane. After a brief illness, she passed away on June 8, 2023. There is so much that happened between those two dates, and there is simply no way to possibly reiterate the life Sherry led in a single speech. She moved to Garland, TX at the age of 8 with her parents and twin sister Gerry Wheeler. Sherry attended Garland High School and later Lamar University once her children were older.
Growing up in Garland she loved to ride horses and was part of a riding club where they held dances and went roller skating with her riding club friends. She married Thomas Cook on June 8, 1965; they were married until Thomas passed away on April 12, 2009. They had three children Billy Cook (Laura) of Navasota, TX, Rebecca DeMartino (Don) of Lumberton, TX, and Jody Cook of Guernsey, WY. and NaNa to 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She has called Wyoming home for the last 10 years. She loved her church family, playing bingo at the Senior Center, and outings with her Red Hatter group. She worked for Hardin County in the County Clerk’s office for many years, retiring in 2003.
The family would like to thank everyone for all the support, encouragement, and words of comfort over the past several days will always be remembered and truly cherished.
