Shannon Joyce Johnson, 79, of Magnolia, Texas, passed away on November 23, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Her funeral will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, at Rosewood Cemetery in Conroe, Texas, at 3 pm.
Shannon made a career working at Eckerd’s/CVS, eventually retiring early due to an auto accident that led doctors to discover she had colon cancer. She required surgery to place five plates in her neck from the auto accident. Then, after multiple surgeries for cancer, she went into remission. Due to her disability from the auto accident, she was never able to return to work, so she started enjoying her retired life early.
Shannon loved watching scary movies, with the T.V. volume so loud that neighbors probably thought a crime was occurring. She enjoyed going to casinos and always kept a little cash stashed away for a quick weekend trip with her family. It wasn’t uncommon to find a couple of dollars stuck in a book or a coat pocket ready for one of those trips. She’d say, “Oh, that’s where I put that.”, having forgotten herself. Shannon loved her dogs and never had enough. There was always room for a new puppy. Shannon enjoyed fishing with her husband and ensuring he had a home-cooked meal when he came home from work. Although a smart woman, Shannon would sometimes speak without thinking. The silly observations and comments that came from her became lovingly known as Shannon-isms. Her family always has a story to tell about Shannon-isms and those stories will always live on in their hearts.
Shannon is preceded in death by her mom, Naomi, her son James, her daughter, Belinda, and brothers Maxi, Guinn, and Barney. She is survived by her husband, Timothy Johnson, sister-in-law, Debra Schlabra, multiple grandchildren, and extended family.
