Sandra (“Sandie”) Kay Barnett Caldwell, age 80, passed away in Conroe, Texas on September 12, 2022 from cancer. Born on March 1, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Banks and Georgia Barnett of Vero Beach, Florida.
Sandie, who was born and grew up in Bradford, Pennsylvania, graduated from Bradford High School before moving to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to start a job in banking. While working as a teller at a bank in Oklahoma City she met Larry Caldwell, her future husband. Larry and Sandie married in 1965, settling briefly in Oklahoma City, before setting off to Houston, Texas for Larry’s job with Arthur Andersen. Over the next several decades, Sandie worked as a teller at banks in Houston, and also worked with Larry in his accounting practice. During this same time, Sandie raised their two children, enjoyed volunteering at their schools, and taking the kids to all manner of extra-curricular activities. In 1997, Larry and Sandie moved to Galveston, Texas where Sandie enjoyed small town life and a bay view for the next 21 years. She loved the beautiful architecture of the island, as well as attending historic Moody Methodist Church. Sandie was a loving wife and mother, an amazing cook, enjoyed reading, decorating the house for every season, and needlepointing. She loved her family and never tired of hearing about the activities of her grandchildren. She also loved her husband enough to tolerate bowling for many, many years even though it was not her favorite activity.
Sandie is survived by her husband of 57 years, Larry Caldwell of Conroe, Texas, her son Ryan Caldwell, his wife Andrea, and their daughter Morgan and son-in-law Tim Jones of Clear Lake, Texas; daughter Tracy and husband Mark Temple and their children Matt, Ben, and Allie of Kingwood, Texas; her sister Linda Word and brother-in-law Tommy Word of Gainesville, Florida; her brother-in-law Darrel Caldwell and wife Jody of Conroe, Texas, brother-in-law Rod Caldwell and wife Trinna of Watonga, Oklahoma, and brother-in-law Tyler Caldwell and wife Marty of Liberty, Texas; along with many treasured nieces and nephews.
