Roger Dosenbach

April 23, 1945 — October 22, 2023

On October 22, 2023, Roger Dosenbach, 78, of Cypress Texas, left to reside with our Lord in his Heavenly Home. Roger was born to parents Lincoln and Georgina Dosenbach on April 23,1945, in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in nearby Warren, Michigan with his parents and sisters. Alongside his childhood best friend Joe Gafa, Roger enjoyed hanging out and playing sports with the neighborhood kids, hunting, and camping. He was also a Boy Scout.

Roger graduated from Lincoln High School in Warren in 1964, where he participated in Track, and obtained his Barbering Certification from Lamar Barber College in Highland Park, Michigan.

After graduating high school, Roger enlisted in the US Navy, where he served 4 years, primarily on the USS Sampson Destroyer. Onboard the ship, he was a Machinist Mate Engine Man (Rank MM2-E5), working in the engine room, operating and maintaining steam propulsion machinery, auxiliary equipment, and outside machinery. His travels often brought him to exotic places like Italy, the Mediterranean and Puerto Rico. After his discharge, Roger worked briefly for General Motors in automotive assembly. But he would make a career of cutting hair up until his retirement, in various Detroit and Houston locations, including working with his father Lincoln in his father’s barber shop in Westland, Michigan, and owning his own barber shop in Southwest Houston. He even had his name and barber shop mentioned on the radio once during an Astros broadcast, personally by Hall of Fame Announcer Milo Hamilton.

Roger was formerly a member of the Gray Masonic Lodge #329 in Houston, where he served as a Deacon. He was also a member of the Houston Spring Branch chapter of the VFW. A Christ-follower, Roger attended Bear Creek Church in Katy, Texas with his family.

Roger was very involved in his children’s activities, including serving as a Scoutmaster for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, Jr. ROTC, and oversaw the construction and rollout of many haunted houses. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Carolyn and family – from road trips to cruises and exotic island vacations, watching the Houston Astros, fishing, hunting, playing Dominos every Friday with Carolyn and best friends Joe and Glynda Martinez, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting, cheerleading, and dance events.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Lincoln Dosenbach and Georgina Fraser Dosenbach; sisters, Sue Ann Dosenbach and Nancy Zapoli; nephew, Fraser Zapoli; and former spouse, Mary Jane Dosenbach.

Roger is survived by his wife, Carolyn Dosenbach; sister, Maryellen Dosenbach; children, Ronald Dosenbach and partner Laura Johnson, David Dosenbach and partner Gina Olcott, Christina Boles and husband Terry Boles, and Jason Plaster and wife Maribel Plaster; grandchildren, Aidan Dosenbach, Makayla Dosenbach, Emily Olmstead, Kiara Plaster, Sabrina Plaster, Christian Plaster, Lauren Davis, Larisa Maher; and great grandchild, Chamberlain Davis.
