Rod Singleton, 95, passed away suddenly on September 26, 2025, at his home in Montgomery, Texas, with his beloved Laura Keigley at his side. Rod and Laura shared a special love and bond for 23 years.
Rod served in the U.S. Army band based in Munich, Germany during the Korean War era entertaining the troops all across the region. He worked for DPS Headquarters in Austin and was the Director of the Austin School of Electronics. He taught Property Management courses at the Austin Community College for many years and had a long career in the Real Estate field in Austin. He was a born entrepreneur.
Rod touched many lives with his positivity and big heart. He loved to play his piano and had a vast collection of books. He was often on his tractor enjoying the outdoors or having coffee around his kitchen table sharing his stories and wisdom about his life experiences. Rod had many long term friendships and never met a stranger.
Rod was born in Calvert, Texas, on the 4th of July to parents, RD and Lucille Singleton, He is survived by three children, Cathy Singleton of Austin, Brad Singleton of Carrabelle, Florida, and Carolyn Gidusko of Orlando now living in Montgomery. Rod is survived by brothers, Glen Singleton of Montgomery, Norman and Alicia Singleton of San Antonio. He leaves behind eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Rod was very close to his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and Aunt Valda Preuss of Conroe.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm on October 25, 2025, at Bethel Cemetery, 14845 Bethel Rd. Montgomery, Tx. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Bethel Cemetery Assn, P. O. Box 1664, Montgomery, Tx 77356.
