Robert Donald Reese

April 13, 1948 — July 15, 2022

Robert Donald Reese, born on April 13, 1948, to Dolores and Don Reese in Phoenix, Arizona, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, July 15, 2022, at the age of 74.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Dolores Reese, and brother, Gary Keith Reese. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jeannie Carol Reese; children, Jason Reese and wife Tasha of Spring, TX, Nichole McHaney and husband Mike of Dyersberg, TN, Jenna Sparks and husband Josh of Spring, TX, Jamie McKnight and husband Steven of Spring, TX; grandchildren, Hailey Reese, Madeline Reese, Presley Sparks, Oakley Sparks and Kara McKnight; sister, Karen Ternois; nephews, Stephen and Jeffrey Ternois.

Bob lived in Phoenix until the age of four when his parents moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. There he attended Kiva Elementary and Scottsdale High School where he graduated in 1966.

Bob’s grandfather, M.C. Reese, owned and operated the first radio station in Phoenix which was later sold to Gene Autry. The radio station was the first one to announce the bombing of Pearl Harbor back in December of 1941.

Bob’s dad served in The House of Representatives and as County Chairman while in Arizona, so growing up at a young age Bob, along with his sister, Karen, could always be found helping their dad with campaigns, mainly passing out flyers. As a teenager, Bob’s dad, along with his brother, owned First National Life Insurance. In the summers, Bob would work with his father assisting him.
In the summer of 1967, his family moved to Houston. In Texas, Bob attended UT in Austin and Houston Baptist University.

In 1970 at age 23, Bob went to work for Sherwin-Williams, located inside the K-Mart Store on Long Point in Spring Branch. While there, Bob met the love of his life Jeannie who was working at the service desk. They were married six months later, on February 13, 1971, at Central Baptist Church on Emnora Lane.

Bob was saved in October of 1971 and in 1972 began working as Associate Pastor under Cecil McLeod until 1979. Bob was over the bus ministry and children’s church. He began with one bus, which he named “Old Faithful,” and was running about 20 kids. With the Lord’s help, he built this ministry up to where it ran between 500-700 per Sunday. From there, he served under Brother Leland Lanier as Associate Pastor and was also over the children’s ministries. Brother Lanier was a great mentor to Bob. He held Bible classes with him, teaching him doctrine, and grounding him in the Word.

At age 30, the Lord called Bob to First Baptist Church of Brookside in Pearland, where he pastored his first church. Here, he and Jeannie witnessed many trusting Christ, being baptized, and lives being changed, and over the years they gained lifelong friends of which they always stayed in close contact with. Bob also pastored at Memorial Baptist in Houston, Calvert Baptist in Midland and in 1990 the Lord called him to First Baptist Spring Forest on Aldine Westfield where he served for the past 32 years.

Bob was a great man of never-wavering faith who loved the Lord, loved his family, and loved his church and serving the Lord in the ministry.
