In Loving Memory of Robert Phillip Merritt “Big Rob”
Robert Phillip Merritt, “Big Rob” was born on June 3, 1974, and passed away peacefully in his
sleep on April 17th, 2023, at the age of 48.
“Big Rob” was fun-loving, had a heart of gold, and would give the shirt off his back for anyone,
especially someone he loved. He loved life and the people who shared it with him.
His love for sports ran almost as deep as his love for his daughters and granddaughter. There
was never any guess as to what basketball or baseball team he was rooting for either. You could
bet he would be wearing his Rockets or Astros jersey and hat and man, could he get LOUD when
his team scored!!!
After receiving multiple rounds of chemotherapy to treat his Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, he
was eventually left with peripheral neuropathic pain which left him almost unable to walk. His 6
year fight to live was overpowered by his tired body.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother: Arlette Merritt, father: Kenneth Merritt, and his
beloved Aunt: Margaret Merritt. He leaves behind the loves of his life, daughters: Candice Paige
Burcham, Kendall Elise Pratorius, and granddaughter: Callie Burcham. He also leaves behind
many friends and loved ones.
At the discretion of his daughters, his earthly body will be cremated, and his ashes will be buried
with his mother, Arlette Merritt, just as he wanted.
