Robert “Bobby” Goad was born on November 24, 1949 in Bluefield, West Virginia. He grew up in Jacksonville, Texas and eventually moved to Conroe. He attended Conroe High School and two years at Howard Payne University. He married the love of his life, Shirley on September 4, 1966 in Conroe. Together, they had four children, which led to many grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing his life stories with his family and talking about his ‘57 Chevy. He had an off the wall sense of humor. He loved showing his girls and grandchildren how to ride a bicycle backwards.
Bobby had a strong work ethic, owning a mobile home moving business for over 30 years, even broke his back on a job, but still pressed on to provide for his family. He spent his retirement building picnic tables and play sets for children with his wife. Bobby was all fully involved in First Baptist Church of Groceville which led him to the ministry.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Frances (Thompson) and Howard Goad, along with his two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Hales Goad; children, Mechelle Denton of Marble Falls, TX, Wendy Peery of Dallas, TX, Debra Gill and husband Bill of New Waverly, TX, Ashley Goad of Willis, TX; grandchildren, Daniel and Irene Denton of Early, TX, Ricky and Kari Gill of New Waverly, TX, Katy Gill and Jordan Rogers of Willis, TX, Mackenzie, Gabby and Hayden Peery, Jace and Jax Urzua of Willis, TX, Caleb Urzua of Kingwood, TX, Linda Pigrenet of Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Aizlyn Denton and Braizley Denton, Audrey and Layne Gill, Tracy and Gracie May Rogers, Janessa and Zaiden Lopez; five brothers and sisters; as well as many relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
Bobby passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 72 on July 28, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones after a long illness. He was a such a fighter to the end. He is now free from pain and at peace with God and we will see him again in heaven. Amen.
