With deep love and heavy hearts, the family of Robert Lee “Butch” Farrar shares the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandad, uncle, and friend. Robert passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at his home in Willis, Texas, at the age of 79. He was born on April 27, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, to Doris and William H. Farrar.
Robert graduated from Edison High School in 1964, where he lettered in football and earned All-District Honorable Mention. His dedication and talent earned him a football scholarship to Southwest Texas University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1971. In 1986, he completed a master’s degree in education administration from Stephen F. Austin University — a testament to his belief in hard work, growth, and serving others.
He dedicated his career to shaping young lives, coaching at Antonian High School, Bandera High School, and Fox Tech before moving to the Houston area in 1980 to continue his coaching journey at Spring High School and later Nimitz High School. After earning his master’s degree, Robert served as an assistant principal at Aldine Junior High, Shotwell Middle School, and MacArthur High School, ultimately retiring from Aldine High School in 2003. His impact on students, athletes, and colleagues is felt to this day — through lives he inspired and confidence he helped build.
Beyond his professional achievements, Robert’s heart was full of passions that brought joy and balance to his life. He was an avid runner who completed several marathons, a devoted golfer, and a lifelong lover of music — from jazz and classical to classic rock and instrumental. He found joy in attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and extracurricular activities. He enjoyed quiet moments playing solitaire, mahjong, and sudoku on his iPad, watching his favorite shows, and keeping up with the political conversations he cared deeply about.
Robert loved his country and held immense respect for the men and women who served it, faithfully supporting organizations such as Tunnel to Towers and The Wounded Warriors Project.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Dianna Rand Farrar; his two daughters, Deborah Farrar Phillips (Arron Phillips) and Donna Farrar Rocchi (John Swedlund), who will forever cherish the wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love he gave them; and his stepson, Derek Jenkins, whom he embraced as his own.
He leaves behind grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy — Andrew “Drew” Rocchi, Robert “Nolan” Rocchi, Addison Phillips, Avery Phillips, Ashlee Phillips and Dylan Jenkins. Each one held a special place in his heart, and his love will continue to guide them throughout their lives.
Robert is also survived by his sisters-in-laws Jane Farrar, Estella Sifuentes, Julie Rand, and Shannon Rand; brothers-in-laws Mark Rand and Scott Rand; nieces Cindy Farrar Morris, Taryn Rand, and Callie Rand Saxton; and nephews Brian Farrar and Tanner Rand. Their memories of his kindness, humor, and warmth will remain treasured.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Doris Powell Farrar and William H. Farrar, and his brothers William Farrar and James Farrar.
But above all, Robert loved his family. Nothing brought him more happiness than the simple, meaningful moments spent with the people he cherished most. He had a gentle, welcoming spirit and a genuine interest in everyone he met. His kindness, his warmth, and the way he made others feel seen and appreciated will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
