Richard Edwin Lyons, 75, passed away suddenly on October 21, 2022 at his home in Conroe, Texas. He was born on August 13, 1947 to Clarence L. and Roselyn E. Lyons in Houston, Texas. Richard was a very proud Vietnam Veteran, serving with the Army 1st Infantry Division, 8th Battalion, and 6th Artillery as a Specialist 5. He enjoyed watching his old black and white westerns, like Gunsmoke, and spending time outdoors. He loved to dance to old school country, and listen to 50's rock and roll. He was also into fishing, hunting, and checking out antique cars when he could. He always kept his personal vehicles in pristine condition. The brighter the chrome, the better. Richard was a true fan of any Houston sports team, being an athlete himself for many years. He not only played slow pitch softball, but he coached a local women’s softball league that had taken them all across Texas to play tournaments. Richard was also a very dedicated business man, working at Childs Truck Equipment from 1969-2000, moving on to a few other truck equipment fabrication companies, and accomplishing retirement in 2019 from TER of Texas, Conroe.
Richard is preceded in death by both parents; brother, Clarence Leonard Lyons III, and his only sister, Elizabeth Suzanne Lyons. He was a loving father who leaves behind his daughter, Brandy Runia Lyons; son, Richard E. Lyons Jr., and wife Brandy; grand children Corey Lyons, Kelsey Lyons (Jeff Simpson), Brandon Skero, Colton Skero, Kyley Lyons, and Kaley Lyons; along with six great-grandchildren; Brothers, Charlie Lyons (Rose) and John Lyons (Waynette).
