Raymond Charles Brumek Jr.

March 19, 1969 — June 6, 2024

Raymond Charles Brumek Jr, affectionately known as Bubby to family and close friends, was born on March 19, 1969, in Conroe, Texas, and passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2024, at 55. Bubby was the beloved father of Lisa Wright Brenner and the cherished son of Linda Joyce Brumek Kennedy and the late Raymond Charles Brumek Sr. He was the second of five children. His three sisters will miss him dearly, and he now joins his brother Eric in heaven.

From a young age, Bubby displayed a sweet nature and a love for sports, video games, and outdoor play. As the oldest boy, he relished teasing his sisters. In junior high school, he was a star athlete in both football and track. Tragically, in eighth grade, a severe crash resulted in a traumatic brain injury, leaving him hospitalized for four months and in a coma for six weeks. His family almost lost him several times, but Bubby's tenacity, perseverance, and faith saw him through. He demonstrated incredible strength and determination as he relearned how to walk, talk, and eat. Despite these challenges, Bubby graduated from Conroe High School with his class in 1987.

A few years later, he married, and in 1994, his beautiful daughter, Lisa, was born. Despite enduring numerous trials and tribulations in the years that followed, Bubby maintained a positive outlook, a grateful heart, and a wonderful laugh. He deeply loved his mother and daughter, and his brother Eric was his best friend. The bond between Eric and Bubby was special; they enjoyed playfully teasing each other, with Eric always looking out for his brother. Bubby's favorites included Dr. Pepper, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and cereal.

Bubby's faith was a cornerstone of his life. As a teenager, he once built a large wooden cross and carried it down the street in Forest Hills to reenact Jesus’ last days. He also preached outside stores, spreading the word of God. His deep faith and inspirational actions leave no doubt that he is now in heaven, healed in body and mind.

Bubby is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Brumek Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Wright Brenner, and her husband Ross; his mother, Linda Joyce Kennedy; his sisters Sandi Raimer, Stephanie McLemore and her husband Curtis, and Bridget Pizzi and her husband Jim; his grandchildren Olivia, Sophia, and Owen Brenner; his nieces and nephews Meagan, Aimee, Shane, Stacey, Jake, Sarah, Donnie, Forrest, Sydney, Kaelob, Brayden, Tesla, and Damien; his beloved aunts Terry Kopech, Mattie Carlin, Emily Smith, and Janie Doyle; as well as many cousins, grand-nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

A special thank you to social worker Cindy, Dr. William Brown, Dr. Royal Becker, and social worker Edah for their loving care and compassion. The family also extends their gratitude to the Moody Foundation and TLC in Galveston for Bubby’s care and rehabilitation following his 1983 accident.

Bubby's joyful spirit, unyielding faith, and resilient character will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
