Today our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of our beloved sister, mom, aunt, grandmother
and friend.
Raelyne Harris Carlton passed away on Sunday January 15, 2023 at the age of 63 after a long battle with cancer. It would be wrong to say she lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always present, always loving, frustrated at times but always so full of life. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight. Her fight burns bright within all who were blessed to share a memory, a laugh, a hug and overall friendship.
Raelyne was born on April 15, 1959 in Houston, Texas to Fines L and Juanita L Harris a longtime businessman of Harris Transmission Service and is one of fourteen children.
To most she was known as Raelyne, Rae, Mom, Grandma, but to her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews on the Harris side she was “Doodle Bug” her nickname.
She was our crazy little on the wild side at times sister. She would listen to you but when she got ready to do something she did it her way. She loved drawing, painting, arts and crafts, going on trips and her jobs working as a salesman for floor tile companies.
She believed in God, always asking for prayers, loved her daughters, grandchildren, family and friends. Raelyne is preceded in death by her parents, Fines L Harris and Juanita L Harris; her brothers, Ricky L Harris, Cecil E Harris and John O Harris.
Raelyne is survived by her daughter Carla Walsh and husband Dan, daughter, Casey Waters;
grandchildren, Parker Keith Applewhite, Cayden Joe Waters, Sky Paul Waters, Scarlett Anne Waters; brothers, Delbert Harris and wife Pam, Fines L Harris Jr; sisters, Terenda Vance and husband Tommy, Janette Huff and husband James, Dawauna Harris, Rhoda Yackley and husband David, Juanita Morris, Lanna Matthews and husband Matt, Jennifer Woychesin, Shelyne Harris; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
We will greatly miss Rae’s smile and adventuresome spirit. But now we are grateful that she knows what it’s like to be genuinely unbound without cancer, pain, or treatment. We would like to thank everyone that has helped with Raelyne and all of your prayers and love. A special thanks to Ardena Williams, Raelyne’s last caretaker and best friend for being there for her.
No funeral or services will be held at this time. Our family will hold private ceremony at a later date.
