Philomena Logue Riggins, of Conroe, TX, passed away peacefully at the age of
94 on May 23, 2025.
Philomena was born and raised in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland in
1930 into a large Catholic family, as one of nine children. She left her home
country for England, where she met her beloved husband Gordon. Philomena
and Gordon then moved to Toronto, Canada, where they welcomed their
children. From there, her family relocated yet again to the United States, settling
in Garland, TX. In 1972, Philomena suddenly became a widow, and remarried
two years later to Douglas Riggins.
Philomena, “Nanny,” was primarily a homemaker for many years and ran a
successful home childcare center where she left a lasting impression on
countless children and families. She was a “Nanny” to all.
Known as an amazing hostess, she loved entertaining her friends—especially at
Christmas, when she was renowned for her legendary holiday parties.
Philomena’s baking skills were sought-after; her jam tarts, shortbread, and
sausage rolls being what all family members looked forward to each Christmas.
She absolutely loved BINGO and slot machines- and with her Irish luck, she
almost always won! Last but not least, she adored her grandchildren and was
highly involved with their extracurricular activities as they grew up.
She is survived by her loving children: Kieran Mullan, John Logue (wife Siobhan),
Patricia Nesler, Sandra Cox, and Sean Parsons. She is also survived by many
grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she loved dearly.
Philomena was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jennie Logue; her
eight siblings (five sisters and three brothers); and both of her husbands, Gordon
Parsons and Douglas Riggins.
Philomena had a natural and indescribable ability to connect and bring joy to any
person she met. We couldn’t have asked for a more loving mother and
grandmother. Philomena’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved
her.
Plans for Philomena’s Celebration of Life are to be determined at this time. In lieu
of flowers, donations can be made to her favorite charity, St. Judes.
