Paul Severson, 88 of Houston, entered God’s kingdom on September 20, 2023. He was born April 30, 1936, to Alfred and Gladys Severson in Northfield, MN. Paul had two brothers and three sisters as well.
Paul, the most loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather is survived by his children, Jon and Susan as well as grandchildren, Austin, Kennedy and great-grandchild, Theo.
Growing up on a large and active farm in MN and following High School he graduated from St. Olaf College. After some teaching, he went on to Officer Candidate School for the Navy. He would soon become a Captain in the Navy, overseeing the Destroyer, USS Forster. He traveled the world as a result before meeting his wife, Mary Katherine “Bitsy”, in Hawaii while she was working for the Red Cross. They were married in February of 1962.
They spent time in Nice, France where they ended up adopting their son. Shortly after, they moved back to the states and then also adopted their daughter. The family lived in the Northeast for some before moving to TX in 1972. Paul was very active in various churches while serving in the Navy Reserve as well as working tirelessly. They lived a full life filled with many loving animals over time. With 60 years of marriage, the love Paul had for his wife was so strong, he transitioned 7 hours following her passing.
Paul was a thinker, a writer, a painter and constant jokester. His words and demeanor were constantly positive, uplifting, and funny. He never had a problem making new friends. As a man of true integrity and confidence, Paul would rarely budge under any circumstance. Above all, he treated everyone with a kindness that was simply un-surpassed. To say that he put others before him would be an understatement.
Paul was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, that loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all he knew.
