Ogler Leyva Matos

July 15, 1981 — February 1, 2024

Ogler Leyva Matos, 42, left his family for Heaven on Thurday, February 1,
2024. His heart attack was very sudden and completely unexpected. The
Celebration of His Life will be held at 3pm on Friday, February 9, 2024 at
Eickenhorst Funeral Services, 1712 N. Frazier Street, Suite 115, Conroe, TX
77301. Dr. JD Andrews will be officiating. As was his wish, Ogler will be
cremated so his ashes can remain with his family who he loved so dearly.
Ogler Leyva Matos was born on July 15, 1981 in Havana, Cuba to Luis Leyva and
Erlinda Matos-Suarez. At the age of 12, Ogler immigrated to Key West, FL with
his family, they then moved to Albuquerque, NM in November 1994. He finished
his schooling there, graduating from Del Norte High School.
It was the night of this graduation on May 27, 2000 that he met and became friends
with the love of his life Terrin Marie Kollar. They were introduced by Ogler’s best
friend Paul. To this day Terrin remembers how good Ogler looked in his leather
jacket talking on the pay phone outside that gas station. He originally stood her up
on their official first date, but the feisty Terrin wasn't having that and decided to go
give him a piece of her mind. It was LOVE and the two were inseparable; they
literally worked across the street from one another after Terrin’s graduation in
2001. Riding to work, eating lunch, then driving home, growing up together
working as one to make the life and family they dreamed of in their hometown.
Their daughters started coming and Ogler decided to join the Navy in 2005 to
better support his growing family. After finishing boot camp, the young lovebirds
got married on November 6, 2005 back in Albuquerque surrounded by family and
friends. It was a very long day because they had spent the entire night before out
dancing.
They then moved to San Diego for Ogler’s first Naval assignment. He achieved the
rank of Aviation Boatswains Mate and received honors as a sharpshooter. After
numerous deployments and four years of dedicated service to the adopted country
he loved, the decorated ABM left the Navy to spend more time in his most
cherished roles of husband and father.
Over the next several years he did various jobs to support his family and their
dreams, most recently working for the United States Post Office for the past 6
years. In September 2021, he moved his family to Conroe, TX to pursue
specialized treatment for his baby girl Bela who suffers from Rett Syndrome.
He treasured spending time with all his “girls”, his loving wife Terrin, and
daughters Destiny, Taysha, and Isabela. Together they enjoyed watching stars and
observing the skies with their telescopes, sharing in his love of Cuban music,
teaching them to salsa dance, and his passion for collecting sneakers. He and
Terrin loved to dream about retiring to Galveston on the ocean and often sat up late
on their patio after the girls were in bed talking about all the places they wanted to
travel. He especially loved talking music and fast cars with his first born Destiny;
Taysha, his middle daughter, loved challenging her Daddy to endless video games,
including beating him in Call of Duty; and, like every great girl dad, Ogler adored
dancing around the room to Disney Princess movies with his baby girl Isabela.
Ogler and Terrin were together for almost 24 years, they gave the world three
beautiful girls, they loved their family and friends dearly, they lived and loved their
life through three states and all that this life threw at them, and it is only Ogler’s
sudden death that has separated them this side of eternity. Ogler was a good man
who loved his family and friends. Please keep his wife and family in your prayers
as they continue on without him here on earth, but forever in their hearts. Dear
Jesus, give them the peace that passes all understanding and hold them close in
Your arms Father.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Terrin Marie of Conroe; his daughters,
Destiny Elena (22), Taysha Raquel (19), and Isabela Marie (12) all of Conroe; his
mother, Erlinda Matos-Suarez of Albuquerque; his brother, Wilmer Leyva Matos

his brother-in-law Dustin (Kristen) Kollar and his nephews, Andrew, Erik, Tucker,
and Tanner Kollar all of Albuquerque; his sister-in-law, Stefanie Kollar and

Heckwine of Albuquerque, Sarah and Jeff Mulder of Reno, NV, Sam and Richard
Hines of Albuquerque, and Jamie Santi of Albuquerque; his many “adopted”

(Sarah and Jeff), Kylie, Kaden, and Elijah (Sam and Richard), Jasmin and Jacob
(Jamie) who all lovingly called Ogler their “Uncle Yogurt” even after they finally

Ogler was preceded in death by his father Luis Leyva.
