Morris Glenn Eickenhorst

Morris Glenn Eickenhorst, 61, died at home on October 16, 2011 following a 19 month battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Navasota, TX, graduating from Navasota High School in 1969. The following year, at a Valentine's Day party, Morris asked Linda Stolz to dance for the first time. They were married on February 10, 1973 and spent 38 wonderful years dancing together through life, never forgetting the community in which they were raised. Morris and Linda moved to Conroe in 1975 where he began a successful, lifelong career in the lumber industry. Morris called Conroe home for the remainder of his life, raising two sons, creating lifelong friendships, and becoming an active member in the community through his involvement in and dedication to many local organizations. He served on the executive board of the Greater Conroe/Lake Conroe Area Chamber of Commerce, the Montgomery County Fair Association, and Montgomery County 4-H Shotgun Team, served as chairman of the City of Conroe Planning Commission and president of the Conroe Noon Lions Club, and was honored as Lifetime Vice President of the Montgomery County Fair Association and Lifetime Member of Texas Lion's Camp. Morris was very active in church, serving on the church council and actively participating in choirs, Bible studies, and community service projects. Morris had a passion for making people laugh and, in the late 90's, began providing enlightening entertainment as a humorist speaker at events and functions across Texas. He especially loved serving as emcee at the Conroe Tiger Booster Club. In May of 2010, Morris realized a longtime dream, opening Eickenhorst Funeral Services, a local funeral home dedicated to providing affordable funeral services to the community.Morris was a dedicated Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved his wife and was a committed husband. His boys were his pride and joy, and he spent many hours coaching little league, hunting, traveling, and sharing numerous other hobbies with them. He loved his daughter in law and grandchildren dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. He never met a stranger and lived a life of honesty and integrity. Morris impacted many lives and loved to make people laugh. He lived with strong faith and unwavering Christian character, serving God first always. All who knew him, loved him, and he will be missed.Morris is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Willie and wife Melissa; son, Jake; and grandchildren, Nate and Anna; brother, Wilbert and wife JoAnn Eickenhorst; sister, Wilma Robnett; niece, Sandy Robnett; niece, Kellie Leitko and husband Scott and children Collin and Amie; nephew, Randy Eickenhorst and wife Sarah and children, Ben, Sam, and Jack; and niece, Sheri Fritsche and children Aaron and Blake; and numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Hilda Eickenhorst.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Morris' name to Conroe Noon Lions Club and the Montgomery County Fair Association.
