Michael L. Perry

November 15, 1956 — May 5, 2023

The LORD said to Isaiah: “Lift up your eyes to heaven and see. Who has created these things? It is the One who brings out their army by number; He calls them all by name…”
(Isaiah 40:26 NWT)

God invited his servant, Isaiah, to look up at the magnitude and the beauty of the stars in the heavens that God had created and to know that God himself had given every star a name.

God also gave the Perry family a wonderful shining star that his parents, the late Jerry Mack Perry, and late Arell George Perry, named Michael Lenard Perry (also known as Hack to family and close friends). This star was born on November 15, 1956. Michael’s light could be seen early on as he accepted Christ at a young age at the Rocky Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Simboro, LA. He graduated from Grambling Laboratory High School in 1975. Michael continued his education in Houston, TX and received certification as a licensed welder. He was a dedicated managing supervisor over the Houston Medical Center Parking Facilities and displayed outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills to everyone. Again, continuing to shine his beautiful bright light upon others.

Many stars have a magnetic field that attracts other forces in the universe.

The star named Michael attracted a wife. This spectacular fusion of love produced other stars two beautiful sons Michael Lenard (Jennifer) Perry, II and Jerrance Jerlane (Afton) Perry both of Houston, TX. He has one daughter Brittany Simone Perry of Houston, TX. In turn, smaller stars came into being that included five grandchildren Hunter, Logan, Aniya, Alayja and Jerrance Perry. This was the beginning of the creation of the Michael Perry galaxy of stars.

The star, Michael, was an amazing source of energy and love for all his family, including Johnise Perry Walker & Vickey Perry of Houston, TX, Shirley (Edward) Semien of Highland Village, TX, Crystell (Christopher) Moore of Athen, LA and Robert (Sharnette) Singleton of Los Angeles, CA. One Beautiful Special Aunt Lois Shelton Wagner of Ruston, one Uncle Aaron Austin of Ruston, a guardian cousin Helen Moore, a host of magnificent nieces and nephews and several amazing cousins and friends.

Michael’s starlight was seen and felt by all those he touched, whether family or friends, especially, through the magnificent meals that he created and, generously, shared with others. Michael loved to cook and, joyfully, touched the hearts and palates of many through the delicious meals that he provided. Many experienced Michael’s light as he performed expert mechanical repairs, during his professional welding career, and the clients that he served as a talented and compassionate barber.

We look upon a star filled night with awe, and we thank our wise and loving God for the beauty and the light of the stars that sparkle like a million diamonds in the sky.

THE STAR MICHAEL WAS LOVED BY EVERYONE WHO MET HIM!

Stars have their time to shine before they fall. The star, Michael, reached the end of his time to shine on our galaxy on May 5, 2023 at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, Houston Texas.

We thank our loving God that the light of Michael’s love remains and will shine upon our hearts forever.

From Your Children…
You were a superhero, a knight in shining armor, and a prince charming-all rolled into one-for each of us. Your love was, always, unconditional and stretched to reach us-no matter where life took us. You loved us for no reason and for every reason. There was never any reason to look behind because you always had our backs. The bond that we shared can never be broken and memories of you are stored in our hearts. The love that we shared is a light that will keep us safe, strong, and together-forever.

From Your Grandchildren…
No one can ever replace you. Your smiles, your hugs, your love, the way that your eyes lit up each time you saw us…we knew that we had our own special bond with you that we would never share with anyone else. When we were with you, we were always in a place of love and happiness. Our hearts are broken, and we will always miss you…but your love will always light up our hearts.

From Your Sisters…
We are grateful for the opportunity to have celebrated life and laughter with you. You were more than a brother. You were a confidant, protector, source of strength for us, and a friend. You encouraged us during our lowest days and shared our joy when life was good. You are irreplaceable. But your love is stamped, indelibly, upon our hearts-until we meet again.

From Your Nephews…
When we think of you, we will always think of laughter, celebrations and good times. When we think of you, we will always think of strong and unbroken love. Your life was a blessing that will give to us forever. The memory of your smile will, always, light up our lives.

From Your Nieces…
We never had to question your feelings for us. You love us-all-without condition. If we were hungry, you fed us. If you felt we needed direction, you did not hold back. Your life was a beautiful blessing, and your hands were always open to welcome us. So today our tears flow for you, as your love has, always, done for us. Your love is our legacy!

POEM

From Michael…

Today is a time of FAITH and REFLECTION
Not a time to weep
For I truly enjoyed this journey with you
I hope I left each of you something to keep

I hope I left you LAUGHTER
To lift your hearts when you are sad
I hope I left you SUNSHINE
To brighten your soul when times are bad

I hope I left you LOYALTY
To stick together come what may
I hope I left you STRENGTH
To treasure each other every day

I hope I left you PEACE
To walk with joy through storms of life
I hope I left you GOODNESS
To guide your feet away from strife

I hope I left you COURAGE
To keep your focus straight ahead
I hope I left you FOOD for THOUGHT
To keep your minds well fed

I hope I left you WISDOM
To guide your words and deeds and goals
I hope I left you JEWELS of LIFE
So you can own what can’t be sold

Today is a time of faith and reflection
Not a time to weep
For we’ve loved each other each day of this journey.
I hope I left each of you something to keep!
Love, Michael L. Perry
