Michael Presley Holcomb, 44, peacefully went to be at rest with his Lord and Savor on April 5, 2025 with his loving family near him.
Pres was born in Abilene, Texas on June 17, 1980. He graduated from Hallsville High School in 1998. After he played soccer at Hardin Simmons University, he completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Sam Houston State University. Pres’ teaching and coaching careers took place in Huntsville, Willis, and Kingwood for a total of 19.5 years.
Pres achieved winning results with his own gentle coaching style. During his years of coaching, his teams often achieved the title of Bi-District/District Campions advancing to multiple rounds of the playoffs. His professional awards included District and Region Coach of the Year many times. He created an avenue through a Career and Technology Print Shop class to provide an internship during students’ CTE career path at Kingwood High School. Pres was a finalist for Teacher of the Year in 2018. Pres also served on the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches as Communications Director for 11 years.
While in college Pres met his wife, Jenny, at the Huntsville Church of Christ. They were married on July 26, 2003 and had an amazing life together. He was a devoted father to Kyle and Carter and taught by example. Some of the family’s favorite activities included camping, traveling, fishing and all things sports. Pres had a strong faith and served others through his profession as well as preschool, elementary, and youth ministries. He had a passion for leading his family in ways that pleased the Lord.
Pres was preceded in death by his grandparents, Shirley Holcomb, Charlie Mosman and Annette Mosman; father-in-law, Michael Thigpen. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Jenny Holcomb; sons Kyle and Carter Holcomb; parents Alan and Sky Holcomb; sister Paige (Brandon) Snow; niece (Emilie) and nephew (Zane); grandfather Gerald (Ann) Holcomb; cousins, aunts and uncles.
