On July 24, Michael Bryant Brumley age 68 passed from this temporary life into an eternal one in the twinkling of an eye. His soul soared and his spirit was set free as if he were a new born child straight into the arms of Jesus.
Michael is forever free from the pain of cancer. He is now completely healed.
Michael was born in Zwolle, Louisiana on September 26, 1949 to Burt and Eloise Brumley. Burt Brumley was a B-24 Belly Gunner during WWII. Michael experienced his early childhood on the campus of Letourneau University where Burt and Eloise began to raise their family.
Michael grew up in Calvary Baptist Church in Longview, Texas. Billy Foote Sr. led him to the saving grace of Jesus at the age of 14.
Michael attended Pine Tree ISD grades 1-12. He was a star athlete in all sports while maintaining perfect grades. After High School graduation, Michael attended Kilgore Jr. College before transferring to the University of Texas, where he was a trident Longhorn all his remaining life.
Soon after finishing college, Michael met Georgia Blake and they were married on October 27, 1977 for 40 years. To know Michael was to know that he had a brilliant and beautiful wife who faithfully, patiently and graciously supported and loved him all his life. Through his final years of cancer, Georgia never left his side. Loving to the end.
To know Michael Brumley was to love him. He was humble, gracious, positive and truly cared for each person he met. He had a powerful way of making those he met feel special though his compliments and encouragement. He has always been loved by so many.
Michael Brumley was preceeded in death by his parents, Burt and Eloise Brumley. He is survived by his wife, Georgia; daughter,Olivia Brumley Metzger, her husband Ryan and their daughters Grace Metzger and Evan Georgia Metzger; daughter, Lauren Brumley and her fiancé Josh Homann; two sisters, Gloria Bowman of Longview and Judy Walton of Diana, Texas; and one brother, Ken Brumley of Tyler, Texas.
A Memorial Service for Michael Brumley will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at First Baptist Church of The Woodlands.
