Michael Alan Ammons, age 65, passed away on October 28, 2023 in Conroe, Texas. He was born on February 22, 1958 in Oakland, California. Mike’s father worked for the federal prisons and they moved numerous times. He lived in Oakland, Alcatraz, San Francisco, Boulder Creek and Santa Cruz, California; Seagoville, Galveston and Conroe, Texas; Florence, Arizona and Springfield, Missouri. His parents traveled often and had some interesting younger years and visited many different places. He loved to water and snow ski, horseshoes, arcade games, hiking in mountains, and racing electric cars on the tracks.
He worked as a delivery driver for Lone Star Beer in Conroe, then Corem Door Company then became a welder until his illness forced him to retire early at National Oil Well.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Thelma Ammons; sister, Rebecca Sutton; brother, Robert Ammons; father-in-law, James Currie; mother-in-law, Nelline Hamby and husband Al; brother-in-law, Dusty Currie; sisters-in-law, Janise Cooper and Kim Luther. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Melody Currie Ammons; son, Bruce Gordon; grandchildren, Chandler, Danika and Ambriella Gordon; brother, James Ammons and wife Dorathy; sister, Linda Ammons Fenley; brothers-in-law, Donnie Sutton; Jerry Currie and wife Connie, Monty Currie and wife Vickie, Wade Hamby and wife Ann, Michael Hamby and wife Tammy; sister-in-law, Renee Hamby; numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Eickenhorst Funeral Services, 1712 N Frazier St #115, Conroe, TX 77301.
