Maureen Frances Rielly

October 18, 1940 — September 7, 2024

Maureen Frances Rielly passed into eternal rest and peace on Saturday September 7th, 2024.
She was comforted by Reenie and blessed with Holy Water and was adorned with the scapula given to her by Norman Berube as she departed into eternal life and peace with Jesus.

Born on October 18, 1940, Maureen was a much-loved daughter of Michael and Rita Quirk, Maureen and her sisters, Margaret (Peggy) and Patricia, were residents of Dorchester, and graduates of Cardinal Cushing School for Girls. As a girl, Maureen had fond memories of working in the Victory Garden with her sisters in matching dresses made for them by their mother, Rita, and taking the train out to Needham with her father, Mike, to visit her Uncle Jim and Aunt Ellie.

A proud graduate of both Boston City Nursing School and St. Michael’s College, Maureen was an extremely talented nurse who made her career at Winchester Hospital, working in both the Emergency Department and as a scrub nurse in the Operating Room. Both assignments reflected Maureen’s tenacity and skill. She often came home with funny stories about her day at the hospital. Not one to slow down, after her retirement from nursing in 2004, Maureen took her natural gift for design, fashion, and “gift of gab,” to get a real estate license. She was a welcome addition to Sexton and Donohue Realty. In the 10 years Maureen sold real estate, she helped people close on 30 dream homes.

In 1962, Maureen married Norman Berube and together they had four children: Mark, Michelle, Michael, and Maureen (Reenie). Her children and grandchildren were the best part of her life; Maureen was always there for her family, the person that showed up to rock a colicky baby, celebrate a graduation, check in with the family if someone found themselves in the hospital or facing surgery.

Maureen in retirement was an avid golfer, enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots, and enjoyed reading to the children in the Stoneham Public Elementary Schools. She started an exciting adventure in 2021 when she moved to The Woodlands, TX, to be closer to her daughter. Together they enjoyed going shopping, visiting the Creighton Theater and having lobster dinners. Maureen was a resident of The Forum Senior Living Center. Maureen’s family is most grateful to all the ladies in Building 5 that showered her with love and care. Maureen was a cherished resident. The girls loved her style, her beauty, her kindness, and her gratitude. She always went out of her way to smile and say thank you.

The family would especially like to thank her Nurses Ada and Clarine for providing love, peace and tranquility in her final days at Memory Lane as well as Broden the little white dog that slept with her.

Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Rita, and her brother John, who passed away as an infant.

She is survived by her four children: Mark, Michelle, Michael, and Reenie. Maureen had deep fondness and love for her daughter in-law Jayne Berube, and son-in-law, Greg Proulx. In addition to her children, Maureen is survived by her sisters and their spouses: Margaret Quirk and Laura Butterfield and Patricia Naughton and Thomas Naughton. She is survived by and will be missed by her beloved niece and nephew Margaret and Thomas Patrick Naughton.

Finally, Maureen’s life was enriched when she became Mamoe and her grandchildren were her world and they will miss her: Alexa & Cameron Berube, Nicholas, Michael, Emily, & Katherine Proulx, Nicholas & Benjamin Berube and Matthew, Benjamin & Kayla Toll.

Maureen’s favorite song was, “"Wherever we go, whatever we do we, we do together" which she often sang with Reenie and Kayla.

We are all with you and are so happy you are reunited with Nana, Papa and Johnny!
