Mary Lindra Laycock, 78, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born on November 22, 1940 in Houston and grew up in College Station, TX as the daughter of a dentist and a registered nurse. She quickly integrated into the Texas A&M University culture and loved all things Aggies. She graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1958 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree at Sam Houston State University in 1962. Mary Lindra married her Aggie partner in life, Brantley Laycock on June 29, 1963. She initially pursued a career in education and taught for one year, but soon found her heart was at home caring for her family. She was a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother. She was a member of The Woodlands First Baptist Church and enjoyed being a part of the senior adult group, taking part in Bible studies and social gatherings. She was loved by many and will be truly missed.
Mary Lindra was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Bailey and her father, Dr. Arthur Cathcart. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Guyron Brantley (Brant) Laycock; sons, Stephen Laycock and wife Christine of Longmont, CO, Patrick Laycock and wife Dawnette of Conroe, TX and Brian Laycock of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Jason Brantlee Laycock and Shailey Lindra Laycock; brother, Arthur Cathcart, Jr.; sister, LaSandra Gault; and numerous relatives and friends.
