Mary Rose Satmire Gibson, a resident of Texas for much of her life, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024, at the age of 97.
Born on August 2, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio, Mary Rose was the daughter of Daniel Stephon Satmire (1906-1963) and Amalia Rose Boriska Satmire (1906-1965). In 1946, she married Richard Wayne Gibson, who predeceased her in December 1991.
Mary Rose was a talented artist and a skilled shorthand writer. Her life was filled with adventure as she traveled extensively alongside her husband, Richard, who worked as a pipeline welder. Together, they explored nearly all the continental United States, Alaska, and even New Zealand. Despite their travels, Texas held a special place in Mary Rose's heart. She resided in various locations throughout the state, including Ingleside, Portland, Rockport, and the Houston area.
Predeceased by her children, Karen Gibson Boxley (2001), Kathy Gibson (2006) and David Gibson (2021). Mary Rose is survived by her children Dan Gibson (Lisa), daughter-in-law Kathy, and Russ Gibson (Sue), along with many grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2024 in Brookside Memorial Park, 13474 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
