Mary Sue Bryan, age 90, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2010, in Conroe, Texas. She was born June 19, 1920 in Elon, North Carolina, grew up in Raleigh, and was a graduate of Peace College. She met her husband of 57 years, William Paige Bryan, while at Mars Hill College, and soon after marriage, they moved to Houston, TX. Mary Sue became a devoted homemaker and mother, raising three children in Pecan Park and Garden Villas communities while Bill was employed by Shell Oil in Deer Park. They moved to Montreal, Canada, for several years in the 1960s, thereafter returning to Houston. After retirement, Mary Sue and Bill moved to Conroe, and most recently she lived at the Carriage Inn independent living center, where she brought joy and laughter to the residents there.Mary Sue loved life, had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, nature, and travel. She also enjoyed the fellowship of the Red Hat Club. She was a past member and Sunday school teacher at Garden Villas United Methodist Church in Houston, and recently a member of the First United Methodist Church in Conroe.Mary Sue was preceded in death by her husband, William Paige Bryan; parents, Ross M. Rothgeb and Myrtle Howell Rothgeb. She is survived by her son, William R. Bryan and wife Pat of Kingsport, TN; daughter, Barbara Baynham and husband Wayne of Ajijic, Mexico; and daughter, Bonita Osborne and husband Bill of Conroe, TX; grandchildren, Derrit DeRouen of Austin, TX, Todd Bryan of Santa Barbara, CA, John Bryan, Bryan Osborne and wife Kim, and Anna Osborne all of Austin, Texas; great grandchildren, Sam DeRouen, Jacob DeRouen and Lily Paige Osborne; sisters, Celia Webb of Nashville, TN, and Anne Peschek of Vienna, Austria.
