Mary Lillian Benton

Mary Lillian "YaYa" Benton, age 93, passed away on March 10, 2011. She was born on September 5, 1917 in Bradenton, Florida. From an early age, she loved to dance and was often chaperoned by and danced with her brother. Later in life, she and her friends would attend dances at local churches in Houston.YaYa was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Edwin "Dick" Benton; her brothers, James Herbert Sistrunk and Buddy Sistrunk; and her uncle, Bill Hancock. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lillian Mize of New Waverly; granddaughters, Mary Lillian Gaskins and husband Doug of Willis and Tommie Jolene Mize and husband Larry Rogers of Willis; great grandchildren, Tommy and Juli Gaskins of Cleveland, Danny Gaskins and fiance Maria Arcement of Spring, Brandon Rogers of Willis and Shannon Rogers of Spring; great great grandsons, Austin Gaskins and Sylus Rogers; and her special friend, Betty Miliff.The family would like to express their thanks to the wonderful staff and nurses at the Willis Nursing Home.
