Martha A. Bailey, age 71, passed away on October 4, 2016. She was born on June 23, 1945 in Midland, Texas, where she was raised. Her grandparents were local county and city tax collectors. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School before attending Texas State University in San Marcos. Martha retired from FedEx and was a member of the North Texas Square and Round Dance Associations. She was also a member of Plymouth Park United Methodist Church in Irving, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John M. Speed and Mary Belle Pratt Speed; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as both sets of grandparents. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Tony Haden. She is survived by her children, Jennifer Bayless and husband Cyle; grandchildren, Andrew Meredith, Jared Reiners and Brandon Shopher; siblings, Barbara Haden and Mary Pratt Speed; cousins, Leslie Curiel and Kenneth Johnson.
Martha suffered from multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s for the past several years. I, the daughter, would like to thank Magnolia Place for taking care of her for the last years of mom’s life. I love you mom. I miss you already. Give my Poppo and Gran hugs and kisses from me.
