On April 4, 2022, Marilyn Whitlock was called to be with our Lord. Marilyn was born to August Louis Klopp and Evelyn Jewel Klopp on July 25, 1945 in Houston, Texas by whom she is preceded in death.
Marilyn is also preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Corlyn Baxley and her son, Ronnie Whitlock, who passed just 2 ½ weeks prior to her passing, after a brief but intense battle with blood cancer. She is survived by her sister Sharyn Schroder, her daughters, Mandy Nelson and Lisa Darsey, grandchildren Blair Parr, Wesley Darsey, Megan Whitlock, Sarah Whitlock, and Taylor Whitlock, as well as great granddaughter Leighton Parr.
Marilyn passed away after an intense battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, pulmonary fibrosis, and pulmonary hypertension. She was a true and brave fighter until the very end.
Marilyn went to Sam Houston High School in Houston where as a senior she won a smile contest. She grew up in the same home until she married shortly after graduation. Marilyn always loved music & dancing. While she was raising her family, she was active in local church activities. She instilled her strong Christian beliefs in her family.
Marilyn was an inspiration to all of those that she encountered. She loved her children and only aspired to love, encourage, and support them in any way that she could. Marilyn was a very kind and compassionate person, and she loved her grandchildren. She loved to play board games, cards & Scrabble which she taught her grandchildren at an early age.
Marilyn’s presence and gentle spirit will be greatly missed to all those who were close to her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Huntsville, 1229 Avenue J, Huntsville, TX 77340.
