Margaret Ruth Silks (Dehn), age 100, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026. She lived a full century marked by love, faith, service, and quiet strength.
Margaret was born and raised in Okeene, Oklahoma, where she met the love of her life, Wilbur Silks. They were married on August 8, 1949, and together raised their family in Okeene. Margaret and Wilbur shared more than 48 years of marriage until his passing on November 8, 1997, building a life rooted in devotion, family, and faith.
In her early years, Margaret worked as a bookkeeper for the Okeene Milling Company, where she was known for her diligence and attention to detail. She later devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Her home was a place of warmth, steadiness, and care. Later, Margaret moved to Texas and lived in Waco, Irving, Emory at Steamboat Shores, and The Woodlands. In every place she called home, she formed meaningful relationships and lasting friendships through kindness and sincerity.
Margaret found joy in crocheting, creating thoughtful handmade gifts for those she loved. She shared her musical talents by playing the piano for church services, sharing her musical gifts in worship. Later in life, she enjoyed word search puzzles that kept her sharp mind engaged. A servant at heart, Margaret volunteered at nursing homes, where she brought companionship, laughter, and comfort to many.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilbur Silks; her parents, Barney and Cora Dehn; her daughter, Linda Landreth; and her siblings, Lucille (“Sis”) Dehn, Georgie Kroger, and Archie Dehn.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Lois Payne and husband Charles of The Woodlands, TX; her son Wayne Silks and wife Marsha of Tom Bean, TX; her grandchildren Christi Walker and husband Robert of Yukon, OK, and Matt Payne and wife Deachi of The Woodlands, TX; her great-grandchildren Torrie and Evie Walker, and Calyn and Max Payne; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on March 14, 2026, at Roselawn Cemetery in Okeene, Oklahoma.
