Manuel Anthony San Roman passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on December 27, 2024, at the age of 93. He was born in Galveston, Texas on February 13, 1931, to parents Manuel W. San Roman and Trinidad Victoria Saenz. At the age of 8 he lost his father during a visit to Mexico, and his mother fought hard to keep the family together as they returned to Galveston. Later, he went to work at the age of 11 at the Star Drug Store. After graduating from Ball High School, he enlisted in the Navy where he spent four years on the USS Prairie.
Upon returning to Galveston, he noticed a cute young lady working at her father’s business, Uneeda Laundry, and eventually married Minnette Weiser in 1956. Manuel also started a long career in the freight forwarding industry until he retired in 1988. Afterwards, Manuel and Minnette enjoyed retirement by traveling, cruising, bowling and spending time with family and friends. They moved from Houston to Willis, Texas in 1993 to be closer to family, joined Sacred Heart Catholic Church and volunteered at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Conroe.
Manuel was predeceased by his parents Manuel and Trinidad, stepfather Jose Quirasco, wife Minnette, son Manuel, Jr., siblings Emilio San Roman, Mary Galvan, Trinidad Lopez Gilbert, Juanita Celina San Roman, Josephine Molina Wells and Dolores Whitburn. He is survived by his children Kathy (Dick) Bell and Chris (Melanie) San Roman, granddaughter Courtney (David) White, great granddaughter Landen and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe, Texas on January 31, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., with a reception following at the Parish Life Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
