Lynn Marie Roulston

December 5, 1946 — July 2, 2022

Lynn Marie (Blocksom) Roulston passed away peacefully on July 2, 2022 at home in Montgomery, Texas while holding the hands of her loving husband and two daughters, after a courageous nine-year battle with cancer.

Lynn was born on December 5, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Marie C. (Hart) and William A. Blocksom. As a teen, Lynn was very popular and was well known for her genuine kindheartedness, quick wit, and the ability to light up a room with her presence. Lynn was a very active student-athlete at Lincoln High School in Philadelphia, holding membership and leadership positions in various clubs and committees to include; student government, event planning committees, student service operations, and was Secretary of the Varsity Club. She also earned letters in field hockey, softball, and swimming.

Lynn met her future husband John, who attended the same high school, at the tender age of 16. John fondly recalls seeing Lynn as the attractive, popular girl who was always surrounded by many friends and who always seemed to be the center of attention. He finally summoned the courage to ask her out on a date and a near 60-year romance was launched. To those who know Lynn, it should come as no surprise that her charm and charisma not only impacted her peers, it even extended to Lincoln’s faculty. John’s physics teacher routinely allowed Lynn, during her lunch period, to deliver pretzels and other snacks to John during class, without objection.

After high school graduation in 1965, Lynn attended Philadelphia Community College while working in center city Philadelphia.

Lynn and John were finally married on July 1, 1972 and Lynn quickly adapted to her role as an Air Force Officer's wife. She became a mother to daughters Robin and Sara in 1974 and 1980 respectively. During John's 20-year career as an Air Force pilot, Lynn was always supportive and happily embarked on the adventure of moving to a new city every three years and making new life-long friends across the nation. She flawlessly managed the tough job of holding down the fort on the home front during John’s remote tour and temporary duty assignments.

Lynn’s love for helping others lead her into several career paths and, over the course of her lifetime, she worked as an assistant in various medical offices, as a corporate theme decorator, planning and decorating for parties and events, and as a beauty specialist for many years, selling YSL, Erno Laszlo and Borghese cosmetics at the Dillard’s Department Store in the Tucson Mall.

In 2012, Lynn and John retired and moved to Montgomery, Texas, settling in the beautiful Bentwater neighborhood bordering Lake Conroe to be closer to her sister Gail (and husband David) who are also Bentwater residents.

Lynn enjoyed social activities with friends and family and always made sure both she and John contributed their talents where needed in the planning and execution of neighborhood events. Most importantly, Lynn was passionate about charitable causes involving children and animals, dedicating much of her time volunteering for the Assistance League of Montgomery County and working in the Assistance League Thrift Shop located in Conroe. Lynn was a member of the Bentwater Ladies Organization and the North Shore Republican Women.

She is survived by her husband, John A. Roulston; daughters, Robin Melodick of Edmond, Oklahoma, Sara Roulston-Fritz of Montgomery, Texas; feline fur-child Sachi; grandchildren, Blake and Savannah Melodick; sister, Gail and brother-in-law David Pritz of Montgomery, Texas; and nephews, Nathan (Lindsey) Pritz and Colin (Nisha) Pritz, also of Montgomery, Texas. Lynn was preceded in death by grandson Theodore Roulston-Fritz.

A memorial service for Lynn will be held on July 27th, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the North Shore Church (18501 FM 1097, Montgomery, TX 77356) with a Celebration of Life reception immediately following in the fellowship hall. Light refreshments will be served.
