Louberta Hebert Pace Abatie, age 99, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026. She was born on April 2, 1927, in Colfax, Louisiana, to Monroe Hebert and Georgia Hebert.
After graduating from Colfax High School, Louberta followed her sisters to San Antonio, Texas, where she worked at Fort Sam Houston processing military personnel . She later moved to Houston, where she married Morris Pace in 1949. Together they welcomed their daughter, Wanda. Morris preceded her in death in 1953.
In 1958, Louberta married Joseph Abatie, and they welcomed their son, Edward, in 1960. The family moved to Grimes County in 1964, where Louberta became an active member of the community.
Louberta worked for the United States Postal Service in Anderson, Texas, for 18 years before retiring in 1992. In 1976, she and a friend helped establish the Sunshine Senior Citizens Center in Anderson. She devoted many years of volunteering there and remained involved until moving to Montgomery in 1999.
A faithful Christian, Louberta was a member of the Church of Christ congregations in Houston and Navasota. Her life was marked by faith, service, hard work, and devotion to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Georgia Hebert; her first husband, Morris Pace; her second husband, Joseph Abatie; brother, Milton Hebert; sisters, Dorothy Hebert, Viola Hebert, and Betty Hebert; and brother, Charles Hebert.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Pace Graham; her son, Edward Abatie and wife Kim; granddaughters, Courtney Moore and husband Danny, Kristen Watson and husband Reed, and Laura Afford and husband Grant; grandsons, Chad Abatie and Josh Abatie; great-grandchildren, Jameson Abatie, Charlie Abatie, Oliver Abatie, Emmerson Watson, Addison Watson, and Charlotte Afford; her brother, James Hebert; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Louberta will be remembered for her strength, kindness, unwavering faith, and dedication to her family and community. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched during her 99 years.
