Lonnie Scott Manis

January 1, 1960 — May 9, 2022

Lonnie Scott Manis, age 62 passed away on May 9, 2022 in San Antonio, TX. He was born January 1, 1960 in Texas City at 12:05 AM. He was baptized in Christ January 2, 1970. Lonnie was a carpenter “like Jesus” for most of his life. He was fortunate to work with men who became his friends: Paul Rainey (17 years); Buddy Essel (10 years); and Henry Reavis off and on for 30 years.

He loved his life and he loved friends and family. His happiest times were spent on his patio “man cave” having BBQs and fish frys. This was especially so when Robert Sr. (Pop) and his friends would play music. Another favorite spot was being at the park and by a campfire anywhere that friends were gathered. He loved telling stories and making people laugh. He was really good at playing pool both online and in real life. He loved pool! His big smile and big heart will be missed by all.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his father Robert Lincoln Manis, Sr.; brothers, Casey Lee Manis, James Ervin Barnhill, and Robert Lincoln Manis, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Robin Michelle Manis; daughters: Lonna Colon and husband Richie, Jacquelyn Ornt and husband Nick; son, Lance Scott Manis; grandchildren: Destiny Manis, Richard Colon, Brook Smith, Liam Smith, Kaelyn Ornt, Nathan Ornt; parents, Eugenia (Jean) and Derlin Barnhill; sister, Rhea Scadden and husband Bill; brothers, Douglas (Mokie) Manis and wife Carolyn; Darryl Barnhill and wife Linda; sister-in-law, Terri Barnhill; as well as numerous other family members; and best friends, Henry and Melba Faires, Todd and Kelly Van Weston, Benny Bomer, Larry Gazaway, Freddie Gazaway, Doodle Killough, and Ray and LaVerne Harp.
