On July 17, at 7 p.m. Our lord called Linell Stewart Sr. home for everlasting peace and rest.
He was born on June 22, 1946, in Mississippi to the late Albert and Louetta Stewart. He was raised on the farmlands of Mississippi. As a young boy he often worked on the farm with his family. Everyone knew very early on that Linell would grow on to do amazing things.
In his younger life, Linell eagerly moved to Los Angeles where he attended the Los Angeles Trade School and earned his associates degree. For many years, he worked for the city of LA, the Reserve Police Academy, the Long Beach Shipyard and many other places within the community
Linell would go on to complete more than 20 years of military service, retiring at the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a heavily decorated combat veteran who services two tours in Vietnam, Desert Storm and several other military operations. He was a United States Marine and Army veteran, but more than anything he loved his family. From grand kids to nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters, he loved everyone as family.
Linell’s spirt was one of compassion and service and he was a member of the Disabled Veterans Association, several community organizations and regularly donated to the Texas Lotto association.
Linell has joined in heaven his parents Albert and Louetta Stewart; his brothers Jessie Stewart, Leeandrew Stewart and Frank Stewart; His son Marrkeyth Stewart; His nephews Albert Stewart and Milton Stewart
He leaves behind his spouse Lillie Stewart, his cherished children Lazerre and Jermaine Stewart residing in CA, Linell and Robert Stewart residing in Texas and Derek Hawkins residing in Louisiana and all those who have provided service to our country; His Grandchildren Jermaine Stewart Jr, Devantay Stewart, Jazzmena Stewart and Shanell Stewart residing in California; Nicole and Alexis Stewart residing in Texas. His Siblings; Mr. Albert Stewart, Mr. Bobby Stewart, Mrs. Velma Owens, Ms. Thelma Hampton, Mrs. Earnestine Drake and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, friends, Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen and Coast Guard from all over the world
Mr. Linell Stewart was as kind as any grumpy old Marine could be. His spirit was one of compassion and service. If there ever was someone in need Linell could be called upon for help. He would often say “if you need anything let me know”. He was a father to six boys, so he had to be tough. He would always challenge those around him to be better today than yesterday.
