Linda Joyce Carr, 80, of Spring, Texas, passed away on May 13, 2025 after a long illness.
Linda was born on October 1, 1944 to James and Louise Tillman of Mobile, Alabama. After Linda graduated from Vigor High School in 1962 she went on to study Journalism at BYU for a short time.
Linda was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and did her best to pattern her life after her Savior, Jesus Christ.
She married Leonard Carr in 1965 after a short courtship in Mobile, Alabama. Leonard and Linda went on to have three children, Andrea Lynn, who was stillborn, April Candice, and Holly Kristen. They celebrated their 60th Anniversary in 2025.
Linda’s family always came first so she started Carr’s Plant Service, a company that leased tropical plants to businesses and took care of them. She was able to make her own hours and prioritize care for her children. Linda and Leonard ran this business together for many years. She acquired her love for growing plants and vegetables from her father, James. Even after closing their plant business, Linda continued to have gardens and grow the flowers that she loved.
In her 40’s, she decided to go back to college and get her degree. She graduated with a secondary education degree from Sam Houston State University with multiple certificates allowing her to teach Geography, Economics, History and Political Science. She taught for 15 years before retiring.
Family History was her life long passion. She began researching her ancestors by 12 years of age and continued throughout her life. She also had a great love of reading. At any given time she could be found reading the scriptures, murder mysteries, and historical stories. If she had a choice of what to watch on TV, it was probably going to be something British. She collected books, nativities, and anything to do with little green tree frogs. She had an awesome sense of humor and laughed a lot in her lifetime.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, James and Lousie Tillman, her sister, Sharon (Bob) Brand and her daughter, Andrea Lynn. She is survived by her loving husband, Leonard Carr, her daughters April (Eric) Ellington of Marysville, Ohio and Holly (Tim) Baldwin of Tomball, Texas, as well as grandsons, Andrew (Jessica) Ellington, Austin Ellington, Jordan (Rachel) Ellington, and Devon (Riley) Ellington and five great-grandchildren: Dawson, Quincy, Porter, Piper and Callan. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 12:30 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 25623 Richards Rd., Spring, Texas 77386. A private graveside service will have already been held. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity.
