Linda Kay Jones Bearden, 82, of Spring, Texas, passed away on the morning of March 12, 2026, in The Woodlands, Texas.
Linda was born on December 26, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to Byron and Ruby Jones and grew up in Mercedes, Texas. She was best known for her devotion to teaching and dedicated more than 30 years of her life to education in Premont, Alice, Victoria, and Pasadena, Texas, where she remained until her retirement. Linda earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Science from Texas A&I University, now known as Texas A&M University–Kingsville.
Having grown up on a farm, Linda developed a lifelong fondness for animals. She especially loved dogs, cats, owls, frogs, and butterflies. During her retirement, Linda loved spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, while also enjoying bucket-list travel. She visited Disney World several times with family and traveled across the southern United States with longtime hometown friends she had known since her high school years. Linda also traveled with her brother and sister-in-law on cruises, which she especially enjoyed.
Linda is survived by her son, J. Michael Bearden; her grandchildren, Mackenzie Bearden Ramseyer, Myles Bearden, Nolan Bearden, Benjamin Bearden, Macy Bearden Egg, Hannah Bearden, and Luke Bearden; and her great-grandchildren, Margot Ramseyer, Bode Ramseyer, and Sonny Egg. She was preceded in death by Donald Bearden; her son, Mark Bearden; her sister, Barbara Jones Durfee; and her brother, Byron Jones Jr.
At Linda’s request, there will be no formal funeral services. Instead, her family invites those who knew and loved her, wherever they may be, to raise a glass in her honor and celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Houston SPCA at https://houstonspca.org/ or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, two charities that were especially meaningful to Linda.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
