Richards

Lee Henry Fain, 75, of Richards, Texas, passed away on September 12, 2026. He was born on December 2, 1950, in Beaumont, Texas, to Jenna Fain and Merwyn “Red” Fain.

Lee grew up on a farm, where he developed a lifelong love for animals, the outdoors, and country living. He graduated from Kirby High School in 1969 and later attended Sam Houston State University.

As a young man, Lee worked as a ranch hand, a fitting beginning for someone who always felt most at home around horses, animals, and the outdoors. He later worked as a mounted field boss for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice before beginning a career as an oil field technician, from which he eventually retired.

Throughout his life, Lee remained an avid outdoorsman. Some of his greatest joys were found riding horses, hunting, fishing, raising animals, and tending to his garden. He enjoyed working with his hands and caring for the land, and he found contentment in the simple pleasures of country life. Whether he was spending time with his animals, working outdoors, or enjoying a quiet day surrounded by nature, Lee remained connected to the way of life he had loved since childhood.

Lee is survived by his daughter, Jenna Hicks and her husband, Matt Hicks; his grandchildren, Kaylee Hicks and Wyatt Hicks; his brother David Fain; and his sister, Merleen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jenna Fain and Merwyn “Red” Fain; his wife, Davie Shiflet Fain; his sister, Deborah “Debbie” Fain Greenwood; and his wife, Karen Whitmire Fain .
