Lawrence Duaine “LD” Harvey, 80 of Bedias, Texas went to be with the lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Lawrence was born on March 8, 1934 in Ballinger, Texas to the late Lawrence Milburn Harvey and Lovie Fay Muncy Harvey.
Lawrence spent his childhood in Ballinger, TX where he played football and played the trumpet in the band and was voted most likely to succeed by his classmates. He went on to receive his BS in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University, a Master’s Degree in Criminology from Sam Houston State University and he completed the Doctorate Program with the exception of writing of his thesis. Lawrence proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Jimmie Rue Eason on May 26, 1956 in Ballinger, Texas. He spent his entire career working for The Texas Department of Correction. He served as the Warden of the Walls Unit in Huntsville, TX before advancing to Director of Training for TDC up until his retirement. He was a life-long bible teacher and was currently a member at The Crossing Church in The Woodlands, TX.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter, Lynne Harvey Robinson. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jimmie Rue Harvey of Bedias, Texas; sons, Larry D. Harvey and wife Sandy of Magnolia, Texas, and Randy D. Harvey and wife Stacy of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren, Keri Harvey Mills, Derek Harvey, Travis Harvey, Matthew Harvey, Braxton Robinson, Chance Robinson, Tyler Harvey, Dallas Harvey and Brady Harvey; great grandchildren, Colton Mills and Journey Harvey; sister, Shirley Rhem of San Diego, California; brother, Gene Harvey of Waxahachie, TX and numerous loving friends.
