Laura Elizabeth Moffitt

November 9, 1954 — August 29, 2015

LAURA ELIZABETH MOFFITT (Laurie), age 60, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2015 in The Woodlands, TX, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Laurie was born in Buffalo, NY to parents John and Mary Moran. She attended high school in Northbrook, IL and Clear Lake, TX and earned an Interior Design degree from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. After raising her family in The Woodlands, she moved to Montgomery with her husband in 2008.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Laurie was a Certified Professional Building Designer (NCBDC) and owned her own business designing homes and home remodels. She enjoyed her work and was especially gifted at creating designs that resolved conflicting requirements and designing home additions that blended seamlessly with an existing structure. Her touch can be found on hundreds of homes in and around The Woodlands.
Laurie loved spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren. She was always up for a good laugh, a good discussion, and a good party. She was a loyal friend to many and enjoyed seeing others have fun.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Jim, daughter Katie Darcy (Andy), step-sons Shannon and Shawn (Laura) Moffitt, and eight grandchildren: Austin and Lauren Darcy, Morgan and Jacob Moffitt, and Cameron Coxsey, Trevor, Parker, and Reagan Moffitt. She is also survived by her brothers, Doug Moran and Ron Moran (Jean), and by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family is especially grateful to the medical staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center and the ICU staff at CHI St. Luke’s in The Woodlands for support and friendship throughout Laurie’s illness.
A private celebration Laurie’s life will be held at the home of a family friend on Saturday, September 12.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center – Head and Neck Center.
