Lalu Hamilton, age 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 16, 2018. She was born on August 22, 1938, in Houston, Texas to Leo and Thelma Dickerson. As a child, she attended Magnolia Park Baptist Church where she was very active up and through her teenage years. In 1956, she graduated from Milby High School. Lalu loved music and was a part of the choir at both the church and in high school, even sang in a girl’s Christian music trio and traveled around Texas singing in revivals.
In her professional career, much of her time was spent performing administrative duties at her father’s plumbing company and at hospitals. She spent the last nine years of her career as a teacher’s aide at Kountze Elementary School, working with children of all ages. Lalu was strong in her faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Tomball.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cloid Hamilton, Jr; parents, Leo and Thelma Dickerson; and brother, Leo Dickerson, Jr. She is survived by her children, Sherry Bell (William Cassels), Janne Smith (James), Laurie Critendon, Sally Ciancimino (Anthony); nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at The Chapel at Champion Forest Baptist Church (located next to the main worship center) at 15555 Stuebner – Airline Rd. Houston, Texas 77069. A reception will follow immediately after the service.
