Kay Poehler, 85, passed away on September 10, 2021 at her home in Spring, Texas. She was born on February 5, 1936, in Gary, Indiana and was the adoptive daughter to Howard and D. Myrtle (Monroe) LePell. Kay is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert B. Poehler, and sons, Stephen and wife, Debbie Dearing and Michael and wife, Lisa Knupp. She was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Jeffery and survived by her son in law, Scott Clark. Kay had six grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremy) Johnson, Macon, Ga, Ryan Poehler, Athens, GA, Megan (Brian) McDaniel, Bishop, GA, Rebekah (Rafael) Fagiani, Margate, Fl, Morghan Poehler, Pearland, TX and Mallory Poehler, Pearland, TX. In addition, she was blessed with six great-grand-children, Bradley and Madelyn Johnson, Declan, Avelene, and Aila McDaniel and Kaylynn Fagiani. A sister and brother in-law, Jan and Bob Napier and their daughter, Beth. A sister, Nadine and many nieces and nephews.
Kay grew up in Valparaiso, Indiana where her parents owned and operated the LePell Funeral home. After graduating from Valparaiso High School, Kay attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and majored in music.
Following college, Kay married the love of her life, Robert Poehler, on April 13, 1957. Once Robert completed engineering college at Valparaiso, Kay told him to pack his bags because the glamour of California was calling them. They spent many enjoyable years there and in 1972, Robert’s job transferred them to Texas where they have spent most of their time.
In her world travels, Kay never met a stranger. She has made more friends in her life than one could imagine and had an infectious smile that would light up the world. She lived out her life in Jesus through her love of people, never showing judgement upon anyone. Kay was an active Bible Study Fellowship student for over 30 years and was a member of Mims Baptist Church in Conroe, Texas.
Due to Covid-19 concerns, there will be a private funeral service for immediate family, but the service will be streamed live on Friday, September 17th at 11:00 am.
