Katelyn Aiko Lynch (Katie) passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 7:45 A.M. Katie had been at MD Anderson Cancer Center for almost 5 months, undergoing lymphoma treatment. It was a long and difficult fight. Her multiple medical issues meant it was a fight she was unable to win, so Jesus called her home to be healed and pain free.
Katie’s middle name, Aiko, means little loved one in Japanese.
Katie was born on August 22, 2005, in Austin, Texas, to Matt and Kim Lynch. She was their firstborn child. She was soon joined by siblings Oscar and Ramona (Mona) Lynch.
Katie attended schools in both Kansas and Texas. She loved singing and was in her school choirs. She loved all music. She also enjoyed the youth group at the Montgomery Methodist Church. Katie was a member of the wrestling team in Kansas until she suffered a broken collarbone!
Katie is survived by her parents, Matthew Lynch of Montgomery, and Kim Schwed of Kansas; brother, Oscar Lynch; sister, Mona Lynch; grandparents Sam and Clara Lynch and John and Penny Doherty; aunts and uncles Tina Arndt, Amy Embrey, Brian Embry, and Chris Lynch and wife Ashley. She leaves behind 3 half-brothers and a half-sister in Kansas, as well as her boyfriend, Sam Harvey, in Houston. Katie is also survived by many cousins, with her special cousin being Jewel Embry, her bestie.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Eickenhorst.
Our hearts are breaking because we miss our Katie Bug so much, but we know she is no longer in pain and is singing with the angel choirs in heaven.
